Community

We do all we can so our members can safely enjoy the club. We have safety boats, a Welfare Officer, several 1st Aiders, an MHFAider and even a De-Fib on site.

Our Vice Commodore produces a newsletter for our members each and every month.

We have a range of activities, on and off the water. You can do as much or as little as you like!

Each of our sections operate a WhatsApp group so that we can keep in touch with each other, making plans and sharing experiences.

Members can use the club 24hrs a day, 365 days a year.

Volunteering is core to the history  and ethos of the club. This is why membership  is so very affordable!

The club has no staff – we all muck in to mow the lawns, maintain the haulage gear, repair the clubs boats, and all the other small tasks that keep the place running.

So if you enjoy DIY, sewing, gardening or getting covered in grease; there is always someone who will welcome a hand and chance to chat about the river, being on the water and to likely share a funny yarn.

Tuition on-the-water is also given on a strictly voluntary basis, such is the culture – and joy –  of sharing skills and experience within the club.

If you are coming to the club with experience or qualifications that you wish to share, then we would hope to give you that opportunity.

SWFYC seek to provide the chance to take a break from work and everyday life.

Use the club house for a chat, cuppa, relax on the veranda, rest after a walk along the river, take in the wildlife, big skies and far horizon views….
